One more milestone on the Web! Yesterday the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, disclosed the fact that, there are more than 1 billion active users on Facebook. Zuckerberg shared this fact by way of a post on his Facebook wall. The following is the post of Zuck:
This morning, there are more than one billion people using Facebook actively each month.
If you’re reading this: thank you for giving me and my little team the honor of serving you.
Helping a billion people connect is amazing, humbling and by far the thing I am most proud of in my life.
I am committed to working every day to make Facebook better for you, and hopefully together one day we will be able to connect the rest of the world too.
Way back in 2004, when Facebook was just 5 days old, the 1st ever article on Facebook was published by The Harvard. That time Facebook had only 650 users & then in few years; it reached the figure of millions & now billions.
Soon after the announcement of 1 billion users, the 1st ever Facebook commercial was seen on the Internet – Facebook | The Things That Connects Us. In this commercial, Facebook is being brilliantly compared with Chairs, Planes, Doorbells etc…

One billion! Oh my… It would be anyone’s dream come true if a billion people use something made by them. Mark Zuckerberg must have done great hard-work.

I’m not impressed with their commercial. Heck, if I didn’t know what it was about I would have been bored from the start. But, they’re Facebook and right now they are king of social media.
I heard a speech last week and what was said is that every big corporation falls at some point so never knowing what the future holds, I’m sure that someday that will hit Facebook too.
I like them myself and hope they continue to grow but only time will tell.

Well, one does have to be impressed with Facebook and 1 billion users. Their commercial on the other had was a bit of a let down, I was expected a bit more – something wild and catchy.

I have to agree with Adrienne, the commercial is poorly made, and doesnt make any sense, FB could have really done better than that!!!!!
Yea, it is a good milestone to reach, but you never know how well they will stand by their values and remain in the social media segment, with so many others getting launched every day, it does have a stiff competition to withstand.
